The camp, which started on Sunday, June 19, and is set to end Friday, June 22, features two age groups, six- to 12-years-old and 13- to 18-years-old. Backed by Sportfive, Selrahco, Dynamic Herb Sports Inc., and Summit Hotel Galleria Cebu, the camp aims to help aspiring football players to develop and refine their skills, enhance tactical understanding, and foster teamwork under the guidance of accomplished coaches. In a media briefing on Thursday, June 22, Flechsig said he was impressed with what he saw with the training camp’s participants. “Very energetic, they like to play, compete against each other. That’s the most important foundation to help grow football in the Philippines,” said Flechsig. “If you can continue this, find enough kids who love to play the sport, we already have a good start to grow,” added Flechsig, who has 12 years of coaching experience across various youth departments. Flechsig said participants showed they have the potential and having regular training will help them further improve. “The skill level is quite good. Start early, start young and that's already a good start. And then I would say they need to keep practicing, put the time in, put the work in. For now, this is really good, there’s potential there. They are still young and we can’t say yet where their career can go but the potential is there for sure,” said Flechsig. Ozkan, a seasoned coach with over 15 years of experience, said it was the first time for the academy to hold a training camp in the Philippines. Ozakan said the academy is open to holding training camps in other areas in the country. “It’s a pleasure for us to train these kids,” said Ozkan.
