Motorcycle rider dies in Pasig City road accident

A motorcycle rider died in a road accident involving a utility vehicle (UV) and a closed van along Ortigas Avenue Extension in Pasig City early Thursday morning, June 22. The Pasig City Police Station (CPS) identified the victim as Marvin Santos, 37. The drivers, identified as Rhian Sison, 42, and Richy Aaron, 39, were arrested by members of the Eastern Police District (EPD). At around 12:20 a.m., all three vehicles were traversing from the western direction to eastbound of the Ortigas Avenue Extension when the left rear of the Toyota Hiace (UV) driven by Sison was hit sideways by Santos' Honda Click motorcycle, according to the police report. Due to the impact of the collision, Santos' motorcycle was thrown to the second lane of the road and run over by the closed van driven by Aaron. Police said Santos sustained serious injuries and was rushed to the Pasig City General Hospital. He was declared dead by the attending physician at around 1:26 a.m. Sison and Aaron were reportedly not injured, but all vehicles involved in the incident were damaged. The two drivers are currently in the custody of the Pasig police.
