PRO-6 hits labor leader over claim of inaction on murder of family in Negros

ILOILO CITY – The Police Regional Office-6 (Western Visayas) has condemned a Left-leaning leader for saying that they failed to act on the recent murder of a family in Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental province.
Butch “Ka Butch” Lozande, spokesperson of the Unyon ng Manggagawa sa Agrikultura (UMA), in a June 20 interview over ANC, accused the PRO-6 of inaction on the killing of four members of the Fausto family on June 14.
“His baseless accusations and hearsay statements during his interview clearly undermine the effort and the hard work of our police in Negros Occidental,” the PRO-6 said.
Police Major Grace Borio, PRO-6 spokesperson, said that Lozande was making general statements based on perception only and not on facts.
“It must be stressed that he issued his malicious statements prematurely while investigation is being conducted by the local police,” Borio told Manila Bulletin in an interview.
The chief of the PRO-6 Public Information Office also slammed Lozande’s claim that the Philippine Army is behind the murders of 52-year-old Rolly Fausto, his 49-year-old wife, and their two sons.
Lozande claimed that the Fausto family was a victim because they were red-tagged by government forces.
Latest police investigation said the New People’s Army (NPA) is behind the killing of the Fausto family.
According to Borio, patriarch Rolly was a peace advocate and was trying to convince his son-in-law, an active NPA rebel, to surrender.
PRO-6 vowed to continue its investigation and not be deterred by the attacks of Left-leaning groups to solve the murder of the Fausto family.
