Miner strangles mother-in-law to death in Quezon


BUENAVISTA, Quezon – A 38-year-old miner choked his mother-in-law to death during a heated argument in Barangay Cadlit here on Monday, June 19.

Police identified the suspect as Deymar Abrincillo.

The suspect, accompanied by his godfather, Ramil Nota, appeared before the police on Wednesday, June 21, and admitted killing the victim, Anastacia Buenafe, 50.

Afterwards, Abrincillo led the police to a mining hole in a mountainous area in Barangay Cadlit where he dumped the victim’s remains.

Investigation said the victim left her house and proceeded to feed her animals in Sitio Mangga.

The suspect and the victim crossed paths in the area and had an argument about their relationship with his wife, Aileen.

Abrincillo suddenly strangled he victim with a nylon cord until she died. The suspect then dumped the victim’s remains in a mining hole.

Post-mortem examination conducted by Municipal Health Officer Dr. Charmaine Babiera said the victim died due to strangulation.

Suspect faces murder charges.
