Albay evacuation center to benefit from solon's water supply project

Close to 2,000 individuals from an evacuation site in Albay will soon benefit from a water supply system project of Ako Bicol Party-list Rep. Zaldy Co. Nearing completion according to Co's office is the level 1 water supply system in San Andres Elementary School, which presently serves as an evacuation site for residents from Barangays San Fernando and Fidel Surtida in Sto. Domingo town, Albay. "It is our duty to ensure the well-being and safety of our fellow Bicolanos, especially during times of crisis," Co said in a statement amid the continued restiveness of Mayon Volcano, which has displaced thousands of Albayanons. The system will provide clean and reliable water supply to the 1,789 displaced individuals currently staying at the school. "By providing sustainable water supply systems in evacuation centers, we are addressing a critical need and enhancing the resilience of our communities. This initiative will significantly improve the living conditions of evacuees and promote their overall health and hygiene," explained Co. Co, chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations, went as far as to commit to provide similar water supply systems to every evacuation center in the province. "Access to clean water is a basic human right...It is our duty to guarantee its availability, particularly in times of adversity," he said.
