“The Childe,” a movie starring Kim Seon-ho and Kang Tae-joo, debuted at No.3 at the box office in South Korea.
The movie, which also stars Kim Kang-woo and Go Ara, was released in South Korea on June 21.

Based on data from the Korean Film Council (KOFIC), “The Childe” sold 64,918 tickets and earned $483,183 from 966 screens on June 21 to place third on the daily box office with a revenue share of 19.93 percent.
Including the pre-opening screening, “The Childe” has sold 93,534 tickets and earned $628,582.
Taking first place is Ma Dong-seok’s “The Roundup: No Way Out,” which sold 82,541 tickets and earned $618,573.
Since its release on May 31, the movie has recorded 9.16 million in total admissions and grossed $70.11 million in South Korea to rank first among all films released in 2023 to date.
“Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse,” which was released on June 21, took second place with 70,801 tickets sold and revenue of $574,976.
“The Childe” tells the story of aspiring boxer Marco (Kang Tae-joo), who is a Kopino (Korean-Filipino), or born to a Korean father and Filipino mother. He lives with his sick mother and goes to illegal stadiums in the Philippines.
He decides to go to Korea to find his dad and pay for his mom’s surgery. Chaos ensues when he arrives in Korea as he becomes the target of different people.
“The Childe” (귀공자) is rated 18 (no one under 18 is allowed to watch the film) by the Korea Media Rating Board.
In the Philippines, “The Childe” will be released on July 5.
