Counterfeit smartphone vendor nabbed in Angeles City

ANGELES CITY, Pampanga – Police apprehended a 49-year-old foreigner for allegedly selling a counterfeit smartphone here on Tuesday, June 20. Police Regional Office-3 Director Police Brig. Gen. Jose S. Hidalgo Jr. identified the suspect as Chinese Zeng Yunshi. Investigation said a woman purchased a brand-new iPhone 14 Pro Max from the suspect for P11,000. However, she found out that it only a clone and not an original item. The victim reached out to Zeng but received no response, prompting her to report the fraudulent transaction to authorities. The Angeles police Station 3 launched an entrapment operation and the suspect was arrested after the victim’s friend bought another smartphone from him. Suspect face estafa charges.
