Agriculture employees can expect a bonus if the Department of Agriculture's (DA) savings could cover it, President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. said.

In the middle of a photo opportunity with DA officials during the celebration of the 125th founding anniversary on Tuesday, June 20, Marcos told DA employees that it is only right to give them a bonus. "Binubulungan ako ng ating mabuting senadora (Cynthia Villar) at ang ating kasamahan lahat ng mga taga DA sabi sayang naman ang dami nating pinagagawa sa mga tao dahil anniversary dapat may bonus (Our good senator here and our colleagues here in the DA, said we are asking DA employees to do a lot of tasks, since we are celebrating an anniversary, they should have a bonus)," Marcos said before taking a selfie with DA employees. "So, di dagdagan naman natin ng konting bonus...Sabi naman ni Usec Ding e, may savings naman daw kayo oh 'di bakit hindi (So, let's give additional bonus...Undersecretary Domingo Panganiban said, you have a savings so, why not)," Marcos added. In a media interview following the event, the President said they will still need to discuss the matter and look into the department's budget but he pronounced that they will indeed get a bonus. "Pag-meetingan natin 'yan. Titingnan ko pa kung ano yung savings natin pero may bonus kayo (We will discuss that in a meeting. We will have to see our savings but you have a bonus)," he assured. Meanwhile, an agriculture official confirmed that the employees may get P5,000 bonus each, according to the latest computation and recommendation the DA has submitted for the President's approval.
