Octogenarian dies after being hit by speeding motorcycle in Negros

BACOLOD CITY – An 85-year-old man died after he was hit by an allegedly speeding motorcycle in front of a public cemetery in Barangay Caduhaan, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental on Monday, June 19.

(Photo courtesy of Cadiz City Police Station) Police identified the victim as Jose Medida of Barangay Luna here. Police Lt. Col. Gil John Despi, Cadiz police chief, said a 28-year-old motorcycle rider probably failed to notice the victim who was crossing the road. The victim was brought to a hospital but he later passed away, according to Despi. Despi said the motorcycle rider was released from police custody after the lapse of the 18-hour reglementary detention. The victim’s family has yet to decide on the filing of a case, he added.
