BACOLOD CITY – The Army 303rd Infantry Brigade (IBde) vowed to dismantle the two rebel fronts of the New People’s Army (NPA) on Negros Island before the year ends.
EDRALIN “Nabibilang na araw nila (Their days are numbered),” said Brig. Gen. Orlando Edralin, 303rd IBde commander, in a recent media interview. Edralin said the remnants of Central Negros (CN) 1 and 2 are on the run. He said they have not neutralized all the leaders of these groups, but the death of Rogelio Posadas, alias “Poten,” an alleged secretary of the NPA Regional Committee in Central Visayas, had a significant effect on the NPA rebels. Posadas was killed in a firefight with the military in Sitio Cabite, Barangay Santol, Binalbagan, Negros Occidental on April 20. With the efforts of the Army, Edralin said these remnants will have a difficulty to reinforce because they are territorial. Edralin said they are optimistic that they can put an end to the insurgency, with the cooperation and assistance of the people and the support of the national and local government units (LGUs).
