Alleged most wanted person in Caraga region arrested


CAMP RAFAEL C. RODRIGUEZ, Butuan City – An alleged most wanted person in Caraga region was arrested following a joint police operation in Agusan del Sur on Sunday, June 18, police reported Tuesday, June 20.

The arrested suspect was listed under the ‘Manhunt Charlie’ of Police Regional Office 13 (PRO 13), the police report also said.

The suspect identified as Arnel T. Belandris, 28, was apprehended in Barangay Mabuhay, Prosperidad town, Agusan del Sur, on the strength of a warrant of arrest issued by the Regional Trial Court, 10th Judicial Region, Branch 6, Patin-ay, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur, with Criminal Case No. 8715 for alleged murder and double frustrated murder without bail.

Operatives of Prosperidad Municipal Police Station (MPS) and Agusan del Sur Provincial Intelligence Unit with the Philippine Air Force Field Station Eastern Mindanao and Tactical Operation Group 10 served the warrant of arrest to the suspect.

PRO 13 Regional Public Information Office (RPIO) Assistant Chief P/Lt. Ryan Comajeg Cagula told The Manila Bulletin on Tuesday that the suspect was also an alleged former member of ‘NPA sa Barrio’ under the Sub-Regional Committee Southland.

Based on the investigation, the suspect was allegedly involved in the shooting incident that allegedly killed one person and wounded two more victims on October 24, 2014, in the municipality of Prosperidad.

With his arrest, PRO 13 Regional Director Police Brig. Gen. Pablo G. Labra ll extended deepest gratitude to the concerned villagers for their valuable help.

“We attribute the success of his arrest to the cooperation of the community in our relentless campaign against wanted persons,” said BGen Labra.
