Red Velvet’s Joy to resume activities after nearly two months 


K-pop group Red Velvet member Joy will resume her activities on June 21 after taking a break for nearly two months due to poor health. 

“We would like to inform you about the resumption of Red Velvet member Joy's activities,” SM Entertainment, Red Velvet’s agency, announced on June 20.

It added, “Joy, who was temporarily absent from the schedule to recover her condition and get enough rest, will resume all her activities starting from the recording of 'Animal Farm' on June 21.” 

Joy is one of the emcees of “Animal Farm,” a TV show on channel SBS. 

“In the meantime, Joy has been resting and her health has improved a lot, and after discussing with her company and medical staff, she has decided to return to her activities,” SM Entertainment added. 

It said, “We would like to thank all the fans who have given Joy a lot of support and encouragement, and we will do our best to support Joy so that she can promote in good health in the future.”

Last April, the agency announced that Joy suspended her activities due to poor health. 

"We are announcing member Joy's health condition and participation in future schedules. Joy recently visited the hospital due to poor health, and through consultation and examination, the medical staff said that she needed treatment and stability,” the agency said. 

It added, "As a result, Joy will not participate in the schedule for the time being, and plans to take a break and focus on recovering from her condition. We apologize for causing concern to the fans, and we ask for your understanding that this decision was made after thorough discussion for the sake of Joy's health."

"We will do our best so that Joy can meet fans in a healthy way again, and we will inform you as soon as Joy's resumption of activities is decided,” it said. 

As a result, Joy was not able to participate in “'Red Velvet 4th Concert: R to V” in Manila held on May 7.
