The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) has further strengthened its community partnership, this time, by initiating a mass baptism ceremony of around 32 babies and toddlers in Tondo, Manila.
NCRPO chief Maj. Gen. Edgar Alan Okubo said the move is part of the Metro Manila police’s effort to reach out to the community by providing assistance especially to poor Filipino families.

“This is our way of providing assistance to our kababayan whose children need proof of birth which is one of the major requirements from school-related registration to receiving benefits from the government,” said Okubo. The mass baptism of 32 babies and toddlers was held at the St. Joseph Chapel, Camp Bagong Diwa, Bicutan, Taguig City and benefitted residents of Barangay 128, Upper Smokey Mountain, Balut, Tondo Manila. Okubo earlier ordered all policemen in Metro Manila not to limit their line of work to law enforcement and anti-crime activities but also in providing all the necessary assistance to the people as part of the police community relations principles. With the recent mass baptism held on Sunday, June 18, the NCRPO has now assisted 182 families.
