LEGAZPI CITY, Albay – Hundreds of families affected by the ongoing Mayon Volcano unrest in the province of Albay are set to receive P5,000 cash assistance from the special fund of House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
Albay Rep. Joey Salceda said on Monday, June 19, that families evacuated in Legazpi City, Daraga, and Camalig will get P5,000 each.
"Each congressman was assigned to his district. Lahat ng families P5,000 uniform (All families P5,000 uniform)," he said.
Salceda, in partnership with popular fastfood chain Jollibee, distributed fried chicken meal dubbed "Chicken JOeY" to hundreds of evacuees.

Salceda said that as of 6 a.m. on June 18, 1,844 families in his district are set to receive the cash aid – 910 families in Daraga and 934 families in Camalig. There were no recorded evacuees in Legazpi as the city government announced that all residents living inside the six-kilometer Mayon Volcano Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ) has been relocated. Salceda and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) are conducting payout for evacuees temporarily housed at Comun Elementary School in Camalig as of posting time. One-hundred twenty-nine families from Barangay Sua received cash assistance. Last week, more than 800 families that fled Mayon Volcano in Ligao City have received cash assistance from Romualdez through Albay Rep. Fernando Cabredo.
