The 21-year-old clocked 13.65 seconds to rule the men’s 110-meter hurdles and eclipse the national record of 13.78sec posted by Clinton Bautista in last year’s Southeast Asian Games in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Gonzalo Sabin Lamborena clinched the silver in 13.84sec while Diego Andres Dougan claimed bronze in 14.00sec.

Cabang’s effort was also better than his bronze-medal performance at the 32ndSEAG in Phnom Penh, Cambodia last month where he tallied 13.86sec.

His performance also strengthened his preparations for the Asian Athletics Championships on July 12 to 16 in Pattaya, Thailand, which serves as a venue to qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

The qualifying standard for Paris is 13.27sec.
