Covid-19 positivity rates decrease in several Luzon provinces — OCTA
The Covid-19 testing positivity rates fell in 16 provinces in Luzon over the previous week, OCTA Research Fellow Dr. Guido David said on Monday, June 19.
Lower positivity rates were observed in Bataan (24.2 percent on June 17 from 32.2 percent on June 10), Batangas (10.8 percent from 16.2 percent), Benguet (13.2 percent from 16.1 percent), Bulacan (7.6 percent from 12.5 percent), Cagayan (13.8 percent from 28.8 percent), Camarines Sur (23.3 percent from 33.9 percent), Cavite 10.6 percent from 16.3 percent), Isabela (29.2 percent from 40.6 percent), La Union (13.9 percent from 19.5 percent), Laguna (10.6 percent from 18.1 percent), Oriental Mindoro (17.7 percent from 40.3 percent), Pampanga (21.2 percent from 29.9 percent), Quezon (12.4 percent from 24.1 percent), Rizal (8.8 percent from 12.5 percent), Tarlac (16.6 percent from 23.5 percent), and Zambales (12.3 percent from 17.5 percent).
Metro Manila also saw its positivity rate decrease during the same period, from 11.6 percent to 7.3 percent.

Positivity rate refers to the number of individuals who yielded positive results from those who were tested for Covid-19. The benchmark for the positivity rate set by the World Health Organization is 5 percent. On June 18, the Department of Health reported 726 new Covid-19 cases across the country, of which 158 cases were recorded in Metro Manila. David said the country’s current positivity rate is at 8.6 percent, down from 10.3 percent on June 17. He projected that the country may record 400 to 500 new Covid-19 cases on June 19.
