Carrie Bradshaw would definitely wear these Filipino designs in a heartbeat

The ‘And Just Like That… a new chapter of Sex and the City’ experience heads to Manila.

In 1998, HBO brought to the screen a show that centered on four women in New York as they go through their lives, break stereotypes, deal with men, and apologetically talk about their sex life—all while wearing the chicest pumps and having a glass of Cosmopolitan in their hands. 25 years later, that show, “Sex And The City,” continues to be a source of inspiration for many people across the globe, not just for solutions to relationship woes, but also for a quick style fix.

After six seasons and two films, the beloved characters of “Sex And The City” came back in late 2021 through “And Just Like That.” There, fans got to see Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker), Charlotte York (Kristin Davis), Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon), and Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall), the latter’s presence is just through a series of text messages, in their ‘50s experiencing an unexpected loss, a classic midlife crisis, and new bonds with people recently entering their journey. Much to the delight of many fans, the sequel also featured stunning looks thanks to the vision of costume designers Molly Rogers and Danny Santiago.

In celebration of the sophomore season of “And Just Like That” and the 25th anniversary of “Sex And The City,” HBO unveils the “Sex And The City” experience in New York featuring recreations of Carrie’s famous stoop and apartment and a “closet experience” spotlighting the past works of costume designer Patricia Field in the ‘90s series and the Molly and Danny's works in the sequel show.

This time, the “Sex And The City” fever heads to Manila, particularly in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig. Fans of the series can immerse themselves in Carrie’s world with installations and booths located at One Bonifacio Open Park. The highlight of the walkthrough exhibition is the booth at the center of the park featuring delicious fashions. Among the pieces displayed in the booth are works of local designers that could easily fit Carrie’s playful style.

Pieces by Rajo Laurel, Puey Quiñones, and Dennis Lustico

First is this gilded piece by designer Dennis Lustico. The look pays homage to Carrie’s knack for ‘70s style. It’s all about glamor, sensuality, and adventure with its rich textures and subtle sheerness. Next is Rajo Laurel’s blush number. Its accordion pleats, modern silhouette, and delicate embellishments play with the former columnist’s quirky aesthetic. Last is Puey Quiñones’ black and white ensemble. Carrie is known for her passion for classic and iconic designs. Think of Dior by John Galliano newspaper-print dress and Versace’s  Mille Feuille gown, among others. That sense of timelessness is alive in Puey’s pieces, merging feminine and masculine styles, which was presented during his recent runway show at the historic Goldenberg Mansion.

You can check out the “Sex And The City" experience at Bonifacio Global City, Taguig as we wait for the coming of the second season of “And Just Like That.” The 11-episode sophomore season will debut with two episodes on Thursday, June 22 on HBO GO. The following nine episodes will premiere weekly on Thursdays.
