San Juan Vice Mayor Warren Villa dies


Incumbent San Juan City Vice Mayor Warren Villa died Sunday evening, June 18, the local government confirmed.

Villa, 52, died of natural causes at the Cardinal Santos Medical Center.

"It is with great sadness that I inform you that a highly respected and much loved member of the San Juan City Government, Vice Mayor Warren Villa, has passed away this evening, with his wife Inah and son Hab by his side," said San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora in a statement.

"Warren was a dear friend to me and we are mourning the loss of a beloved San Juaneño whose invaluable contribution to our city's progress, we will forever honor," he added.

Zamora expressed his gratitude to Villa's goodness and commitment to public service.

In addition, he asked the public to "keep Warren’s family in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time."

The city's Public Information Office announced that activities and events scheduled for Monday, June 19 are cancelled in order for city hall employees and Villa's family to have ample time to mourn and pay their respects to the vice mayor.
