P5.4-M shabu seized in Bacolod drug bust

BACOLOD CITY – Police arrested a 26-year-old man and seized 800 grams of suspected shabu worth P5.4 million in a buy-bust operation in Purok Villa Lourdes, Barangay Pahanocoy here on Sunday, June 18.
THE 800 grams of suspected shabu worth P5.4 million seized from a 26-year-old man in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Pahanocoy, Bacolod City on Sunday, June 18. (Bacolod City police) Police identified the suspect as Rene Lapera Jr. of Barangay Pahanocoy. Lapera is a high-value individual because of the volume of drugs recovered, Police Capt. Melvin Mercado, head of Police Station 8, said. Mercado said they were surprised to see the amount of illegal drugs seized from Lapera whose name was revealed by apprehended drug suspects. He said the suspect told police that someone just calls him to meet somewhere and get the illegal drugs. Mercado said they are probing the suspect to get additional information but he is reluctant to confide to the police.
