Korean rom-com 'King the Land' debuts at No. 1 in ratings in South Korea
“King the Land,” the new Korean romantic comedy series starring Lee Junho (2PM) and Yoona (Girls’ Generation), made its debut at No. 1 in South Korea.
It is about Gu Won (Junho), a chaebol (family-owned conglomerate) heir who hates fake smiles, and smile-girl (Yoona), who both become attracted to each other.

According to polling firm Nielsen Korea, the first episode of “King the Land” on June 17 garnered a nationwide rating of 5.075 percent in South Korea to debut at No. 1 among programs in comprehensive programming channels. It was watched by 1.11 million people nationwide. In the metropolitan area (Gyeonggi, Incheon and Seoul), “King the Land” also took the No. 1 spot with a rating of 5.344 percent and was watched by 570,000 people. It airs on JTBC in South Korea and other countries and regions on Netflix. “King the Land” occupies the time slot left by the hit series “Doctor Cha,” which starred Uhm Jung-hwa, Kim Byung-chul, Myung Se-bin and Min Woo-hyuk. The series airs every Saturday and Sunday.
