(KSMBPI) to promote climate change education in Quezon City on June 15. Under the MOU, the parties agreed to develop and support all efforts and initiatives on public information and education campaigns to raise public knowledge and awareness of climate change. Informercials and other campaign materials would be published or shown in movie houses or cinemas and other social media applications. They would also present other relevant aspects of information to empower the general public, especially highly vulnerable communities, to adapt to climate change and mitigate its impacts. During the ceremony, CCC Commissioner Albert Dela Cruz and KSMBPI Chairman Dr. Michael Aragon both underscored the power and influence of traditional media, such as films and TV programs, and the encompassing influence of digital media in bringing about positive change. In her message during the signing ceremony, MTRCB Chairperson Lala Sotto highlighted their collective responsibility to raise environmental awareness. "Despite our varying mandates, we all share a collective responsibility to safeguard and build a sustainable future for the Filipino people and the generations to come," she said. "Films and Television programs are no longer considered as mere entertainment for Filipinos; rather, they serve as an effective medium in education," she added. Through this partnership, Sotto said they would undertake initiatives to make climate change awareness and education accessible to all Filipinos. "We, at the MTRCB, recognize the important roles that mass media, especially film and social media, play in promoting awareness and education on climate change and environmental challenges; and how we, as Filipinos, can do our part in making a difference—among other considerations, climate change needs behavioral change.
