Police recommend removal of 4Ps members involved in drugs, gambling in Laguna
CAMP GEN. PACIANO RIZAL, Santa Cruz, Laguna – Laguna police director Police Col. Randy Glenn Silvio recommended to the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) of every town in the entire Laguna province the removal of members of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) involved in drug cases.
Based on the records, eight out of a total of 25 arrested drug suspects are members of the 4Ps and have completely disappeared from the MSWD list as 4Ps recipients. Four of them are from the towns of Liliw, three from Alaminos, and one from Kalayaan, Silvio reported.
Silvio added that police stations found out that some of the arrested suspects in Laguna are members of the 4Ps where they use the financial assistance provided by the government for their vices.
“That is why the Laguna PNP continues to communicate with the SWDOs so that the remaining names involved in illegal drugs can be completely removed from the list of 4Ps so that they will not be used by other members of the 4Ps,” Silvio said.
Silvio also said that there were 4Ps members who were caught in illegal gambling and other crimes and violations of national laws and local ordinances.
He said the initiative taken by the Laguna PNP in expelling the members of the 4Ps is in accordance with DSWD Memorandum Circular No. 038, Series of 2020.
The DSWD circular states that any member of the 4Ps who is involved in any crime such as the sale and use of illegal drugs, gambling, drinking, and violation of any existing laws may be removed from such a list.
“For the peace of the family and the peace of the community of the province, the Laguna PNP will continue to research and implement initiatives so that the security and safety of the people can be maintained, help the youth who are lost by the path to return to order, with dreams and a good life and future to make the province more progressive,” Silvio said.
