Pasig has over 20,500 local senior pension beneficiaries – Mayor Vico
There are now more than 20,500 beneficiaries of the Pasig city government’s local senior pension (LSP) program, said Mayor Vico Sotto.
The LSP, launched in July 2022, is one of the local government’s social amelioration programs for indigent senior citizens aged 65 and above.
Eligible beneficiaries include elderly individuals who are not financially supported by family members or relatives and have no pension sources from agencies (like the SOcial Security System [SSS]) aside from the pension provided by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Through the LSP, beneficiaries receive P1,500 quarterly (P500 per month) from the local government during their annual quarterly distribution schedules.

On his social media page, Sotto recognized Nanay Remedios, a 97 year-old Pasiguena, as the 20,613th LSP beneficiary in the city. The mayor met Nanay Remedios during one of his daily barangay visits in line with the “Oplan Kaayusan” (OK) initiative, wherein he and other city government officials roam around Pasig’s 30 barangays everyday to commune with residents and hear their concerns. Members of the Engineering Department also accompany the mayor during his OK activities to immediately address minor infrastructure problems of residents within their residential areas. As he left Nanay Remedios’ compound, Sotto said that he met another senior citizen who was eligible for the LSP but was not registered to the program. His staff took the contact details of the senior’s relatives to promptly include him in the list of LSP beneficiaries. Sotto urged senior citizens in Pasig, especially those who are qualified for the LSP to contact their Office of Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) coordinators in their respective barangays or at the OSCA office itself at the city hall. The mayor clarified that registration to the OSCA as a senior citizen is free. Fees are not required to be paid by seniors in order for them to receive financial assistance and other benefits provided by the Pasig local government, he added.
