Cops monitoring three potential private armed groups in Negros

BACOLOD CITY – Three potential private armed groups (PAGs) are being monitored by the police in Western Visayas.
VILLAFLOR (Glazyl Masculino) These potential PAGs were reported in three different areas in Negros Occidental, based on a report presented by the Police Regional Office (PRO)-Western Visayas during the recent Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) meeting at Negros Residences here. However, PRO-6 did not elaborate further, pending the completion of the assessment. “I’m not categorically saying na meron pero imomonitor pa lang naming (I’m not categorically saying that there are PAGs but we are starting to monitor them),” Police Brig. Gen. Sidney Villaflor, acting director of PRO-Western Visayas, said. Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson said that what’s important is that police have identified and are monitoring them. Lacson said the police is just extra careful since the assassination of Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo last March. Meanwhile, when asked about the barangay election, Villaflor said they would want to primarily dwell on the current record and not the previous record on election hotspots or watchlist areas, because it will be unfair if they will use the old record as a basis. He said they are waiting for the updated policies from the Commission on Elections (Comelec) so that they can have a detailed plan to adapt to it.
