Caloocan City Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan led on Thursday, June 15, the groundbreaking for the new columbarium in Camarin, Caloocan City, which is expected to lessen the overcrowding and space issues in the city's public cemeteries.
Malapitan stressed the importance of honoring the memory of loved ones and expressed hope that the columbarium will provide a decent and peaceful final resting place for the deceased.
“Nagsikap po kami na humanap ng paraan upang magkaroon pa rin ng disenteng paglalagakan ang ating mga yumaong mahal sa buhay. Sa huli man lang po na pagkakataon ay patuloy nating maipadama sa kanila ang respeto at pagmamahal (We tried hard to find a way to have a decent place for our deceased loved ones. At least for the last chance, we can continue to make them feel respected and loved)," he said.

Malapitan stated that this new columbarium is one of the major projects of the local government. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to improve the quality of life of the Caloocan residents. “A convenient and comfortable life for every batang kankaloo, ito po ang pinagsusumikapan ko at ng buong pamahalaang lungsod na ibigay sa inyo. Sa pagtutulungan nating lahat, alam ko na posible ito sa loob ng aking unang termino (A convenient and comfortable life for every young Kankaloo, this is what we are working for you. With the cooperation of all, I know this is possible within my first term),” the mayor added. (Hannah Nicol)
