629 arrested for illegal gambling in Caraga in 6 months

CAMP RAFAEL C. RODRIGUEZ, Butuan City – The Police Regional Office-13 arrested 629 persons for illegal gambling in the Caraga region from Jan. 1 to June 15, 2023.  The PRO 13-Regional Operations Division (ROD) said 133 police operations led to the confiscation of P354,558 in bet money from illegal gambling activities such as cockfigting, illegal numbers games, and “cara y cruz.” The Surigao del Sur Police Provincial Office (PPO) arrested 147 individuals, followed by the Agusan del Sur PPO with 127, Agusan del Norte PPO with 118, Surigao del Norte PPO with 114, Butuan City Police Office with 46, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-13 with 36, Regional Intelligence Division-13 with 21, Dinagat Islands PPO with 17, and Regional Mobile Force Battalion-13 with three.  The PRO-13 attributed the success of the campaign against illegal gambling to the people. “We attribute this success to the support and cooperation of every peace-loving member of our community,” PRO-13 Director Police Brig. Gen. Pablo G. Labra II said.  “May this serve as a reminder that engaging into illegal gambling is about playing game of zero chances, a complete waste of money and resources, and a transgression of the law.”
