TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Police destroyed suspected marijuana worth P6.6 million in Barangay Loccong, Tinglayan, this province, on Thursday, June 15.
Police Lt. Col. Jacob Dangpason, Kalinga police deputy provincial director for administration, confirmed on Friday, June 16, that 33,400 fully grown marijuana plants were uprooted in four plantations with an aggregate land area of 3,050 square meters in two successive eradication operations.
Dangpason said the total estimated value of the destroyed marijuana plants was P6.680 million based on the standard set by the Dangerous Drug Board (DDB).
He said that the plantations were located near the tri-boundaries of Kalinga, Abra, and Mountain Province.
“Most of the uprooted fully grown marijuana plants were destroyed in the plantations, only samples were taken to the provincial police office for documentation purposes,” he said.
