Motorcycle rider dies in Tondo road crash

A motorcycle rider died after crashing into a cargo truck in Tondo, Manila on Friday, June 15. The Manila District Traffic Enforcement Unit (MDTEU)-Vehicular Traffic Investigation Section (VTIS) identified the victim as Vincent Hernandez, 41, of Third Avenue, Grace Park, Caloocan City. The driver of the cargo truck, Adan Badal, 64, is under the custody of MPD. According to the initial investigation of MDTEU-VTIS, the victim was traveling across the northbound lane of Abad Santos Avenue in Sta. Cruz when his motorcycle slammed into the rear right portion of a cargo truck which was on stop position on Tayuman Street. Due to the strong impact, the victim fell off his motorcycle and died on the spot due to severe head injuries. Cpl. Genesis Flagne, traffic investigator, said the victim's auntie and live-in partner decided not to pursue a complaint against the cargo driver and the cargo services operator.
