House Speaker Martin Romualdez paid his final respects to the late former senator Rodolfo Biazon at the Heritage Memorial Park in Taguig City on Friday afternoon, June 16. Biazon, who is also a former House of Representatives member and Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief-of-staff, died from a lingering illness last Monday, June 12, on Philippine Independence Day. He was 88. Romualdez, Leyte's 1st district representative, described the late Biazon as a "model citizen and a brave soul". "We salute Pong Biazon for his inspiring and selfless service to the nation," the House leader earlier said. Biazon was a House member from 2010 to 2016; before that he served as a senator from 1992 to 1995; and from 1998 to 2010.
