Korean content creator Pancake is a proud Pinoy at heart

In the Philippines where everything Korean–from K-pop to food–is such a huge craze, it’s wonderful to know that there are some Koreans who also adore our country’s culture. So much so that they chose to stay here, some even promote the Philippines through the content they create. One such Korean is Pancake Hong, a former model, beauty queen, announcer, and reporter in Korea. Presently, she is a vlogger based here in the Philippines, making videos showcasing the country that she has grown to love. “I came to the Philippines with my family when I was 11. I didn’t know that they were planning to start a business here. I came home from school one day then my mom said that we will live in the Philippines and that was it. After I graduated from college, I decided to return to Korea to work there but the Philippines is always in my heart so I came back, shortly before the pandemic started,” Pancake shared. The charming and witty content creator said that her fascination with everything about the nation led her to create videos about her fun-filled experiences here. “It’s easy to be fascinated with this country because the Philippines is such an awesome place. The people are friendly, hospitable, and always have a ready smile to give. Also, the weather is great, the food is fantastic, and there are many beautiful sites to discover, which is why I love creating videos showcasing the things that make this country amazing.” “Filipinos are also fun-loving people that is why I also do videos where I play trivia games with them. I enjoy doing this type of content because we get to have fun and laugh at ourselves,” Pancake added. Aside from making video content for her vlog, Pancake is an avid mobile games player and loves feeding stray cats and dogs that she encounters on the street. Currently, she is learning how to play the drums. “I try to learn challenging new things every day to keep me on my toes,” she said. For her future plans, Pancake said that she wants to create more videos about the Philippines that highlight the beauty of its people and places. “I want others to see that this country is truly beautiful.
