2 wives of ASG leader nabbed in Basilan


ILIGAN CITY – Two wives of an Abu Sayyaf Group sub-leader and the 20-year-old widow of an ASG member were apprehended in
a joint law enforcement operation on Thursday evening, June 15, in Basilan.

Joint Task Force Basilan acting commander Col. Frederick Sales identified them as Marilyn Lasigan Bayali, alias “Nuray Fernandes,” 46; Madarang Jahirul Bayali, alias “Rashmiya Ordonez,” 44; and Nurmina Janatul, alias “Anisa,” 20.

Marilyn and Madarang are wives of ASG sub-leader Pasil Bayali.

Sales said that police and military forces, armed with a search warrant for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the comprehensive law on firearms and ammunition, conducted a law enforcement operation at the house of Julhaur Lasigan Bayali in Barangay Lower Lanote, Isabela City, at 11 p.m.

Julhaur is an ASG member under Pasil Bayali.

Sales said Marilyn is the first wife of Pasil while Madarang is Pasil’s third wife. Anisa, on the other hand, is the wife of the late Mudzfar, an ASG member.

Recovered from the house were one Colt M16A1 rifle, one magazine for M16 rifle, five 5.56mm live ammunition, one complete 81mm mortar, one 81mm mortar with concrete nails taped around, blasting cap with green and yellow leg wires, two linear charges, one access charge, one braided detonating cord, four G1 pipe, and one Samsung mobile phone.

Armed Forces Western Mindanao Command chief Lt. Gen. Roy Galido commended the troops of JTF Basilan and its counterparts for the  successful operation.

“Your Armed Forces will not stop supporting our partners from the police and other law enforcement agencies in suppressing criminality in Western and Central Mindanao," he said.
