COTABATO CITY – The Police Regional Office in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region is probing the ambush in Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao del Sur on Wednesday, June 14, where two policemen were killed and four others were wounded.
Police Brig. Gen. Allan Nobleza, PRO-BAR director, has ordered the creation of a Special Investigation Task Group to probe the incident which resulted in the deaths of Police Patrolmen Saipoden S. Macacuna and Bryan Dalao Polayagan and wounding of Police Chief Master Sgt. Rey Vincent B. Gertos, Police Staff Sgt. Benjie R. delos Reyes, Police Patrolman Abdulgafor H. Alib, and Police Patrolman Arjie Val Loie C. Pabinguit.
Nobleza assured the victims’ families that the perpetrators will not go unpunished.
The victims, all assigned to the Maguindanao Police Mobile Force, were onboard a patrol car on their way to the Maguindanao del Sur Provincial Police Office when they were waylaid by unidentified gunmen in Barangay Poblacion.
The fatalities succumbed to multiple bullet wounds while the injured policemen were taken to the Sultan Kudarat Provincial Hospital in Isulan, Sutan Kudarat.
Philippine National Police chief Police Gen. Benjamin Acorda Jr. has condemned the killing of the two policemen who died while performing their duties.
