PCGG’s building in Mandaluyong City sold for P800-M – COA

The Presidential Commission on Good Government (PCGG) has sold its building in Mandaluyong City for P800 million through public bidding.

In its audit report, the Commission on Audit (COA) said: “In 2022, the said property was disposed through public bidding and the proceeds amounting to P800,000,000 was remitted to the Bureau of Treasury Trust account under Fund 184.”

The COA noted that the "land, land improvements and buildings" located at No. 82 EDSA, Mandaluyong City were recorded in the list of "abandoned, surrendered property assets" in 2021.

The property was appraised in January 2022, with Asian Appraisal pegging it with a market value of P856.99 million. Cal-Fil’s appraisal was at P721.5 million, COA said.

The COA said there were no details provided as to how the PCGG sold the property and who bought it.

A search through the social media page of the PCGG, however, showed an invitation to bid which included the 82 EDSA property with a total area of 2,886 square meters and a floor price of P789.245 million.

The Facebook post also revealed that the opening of bids took place on May 26, 2022.

In 2022, a bill was filed in the House of Representatives to abolish the PCCG and to turn over its functions to the Department of Justice (DOJ).

Under House Bill No. 4331 filed Manila 6th District Rep. Benny Abante, all the sequestered real and personal assets and pieces of property under the PCGG and all records and documents would be transferred to the Department of Finance.
