Pasay LGU suspends classes in public schools due to earthquake
The Pasay City government suspended classes in public schools after a 6.3-magnitude earthquake that hit Batangas was felt in Metro Manila.
According to Department of Education (DepEd)-Pasay, morning and afternoon classes for kinder, elementary, secondary, junior and senior high school levels were suspended to ensure the safety of the students.
DepEd-Pasay also sent home the staff of the schools.
Alternative modes of learning through asynchronous classes will be utilized in the meantime, said DepEd-Pasay.
Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano ordered the immediate inspection of school buildings, and offices at the city hall.
Rubiano said the suspension of classes in private schools will depend on the school administrators.
She also advised residents to be on alert and remain calm at all times.
