“Hay naku. Mabuhay. There’s a lot of people here,” she said. Jeon Somi also performed a rock version of “Anymore” for the first time. “This next song that I’m going to sing is something that I have never performed before. It’s my first time singing the song here in the Philippines so I hope you guys like it. It’s a rock version,” she said. Jeon Somi also sang “Dumb Dumb” and “Birthday.” She said that “the Philippines might be the first country I ever visited.” She explained that this was because “my mom was pregnant with me and she came to the Philippines.” “Seeing the culture, seeing the Philippines with my eyes but I definitely tasted the mango. I had a lot last night,” she said. Jeon Somi also went down to the audience area to be with the fans. She said she definitely wanted to come back to Manila.

The pandemic happened and it was only last year that concerts and events resumed in the Philippines. Baekhyun first performed “UN Village” at the “Overpass” concert followed by “Betcha” and “Candy.” “I missed you so much,” he told the crowd. “Thank you so much. I’m really feeling how you’ve waited for me. I missed performing in front of EXO-Ls [fans].” Among Filipino food, he said mango is his favorite. “Babalik ako (I will come back). I promise. EXO’s new album is coming out,” said Baekhyun. Baekhyun noted, “It is so hot today,” referring to the response of the crowd. “Because I already told our Philippine EXO-Ls that we will be coming back. Next time we will come back with many performances,” he promised. He also performed “Love Again” and “Bambi.” Just like B.I and Jeon Somi, Baekhyun got down from the stage while performing to be with fans. In his message to fans, Baekhyun said, “I hope that you will wait for us a little bit more. The next time we come back, we will make sure that we will have a longer time together.” The “Overpass: K-pop Music Concert” was presented by Cornerstone Entertainment and OctoArts Entertainment.

B.I’s return to Manila
Rapper B.I took the stage first, singing songs from his albums. He opened his set with “BTBT,” “One and Only” and “Waterfall.” The concert was B.I’s return to the Philippines for the third time since last year following his fan meeting and a solo show last March. From a group, B.I. debuted as a solo singer in 2021 and has released albums including “Cosmos” and “Waterfall.”

First time for Jeon Somi
Next to perform was Jeon Somi, who marked “Overpass” as her first visit to the Philippines. Jeon Somi, 22, rose to fame by bagging first place in the Korean survival audition TV show “Produce 101.” Her win landed her a spot in the project girl group I.O.I, which debuted in May 2016 and became active for less than a year. She started her set with “XOXO” and “What You Waiting For.”

Baekhyun reunites with Pinoy fans
EXO’s Baekhyun was the final act of the concert and the audience cheered and shouted as he emerged on stage. It’s been nearly four years since he visited the Philippines when EXO held their “Planet #5: The EXplOration” concert in Manila in August 2019.
