Metro Manila at 'low-risk' for Covid-19; testing positivity rate falls below 10%
Metro Manila remained classified as "low-risk" for Covid-19, with testing positivity rates in the region falling below 10 percent over the past week, based on the latest monitoring of the OCTA Research.
In an update posted on social media on Thursday, June 15, OCTA Research Fellow Dr. Guido David said testing positivity rate decreased from 14.6 percent on June 6 to 9.4 percent on June 13.
Positivity rate refers to the number of individuals who yielded positive results from those who were tested for Covid-19.
The benchmark for the positivity rate set by the World Health Organization is 5 percent.

During the same period, hospital bed occupancy in Metro Manila fell from 25.5 percent to 24.1 percent, according to David. Given the low testing positivity rate and hospital bed occupancy, he said that Metro Manila "remains at low risk" for Covid infection. On June 14, the Department of Health reported 468 new Covid-19 cases across the country, of which 105 cases were recorded in Metro Manila. David said the country’s current positivity rate is at 11.9 percent, down slightly from 12.9 percent on June 13. He projected that the country may record 500 to 600 new Covid-19 cases on June 15.
