Manila gov't to conduct citywide tree-planting activity

The city government Manila will conduct simultaneous tree-planting events on Friday, June 16. The "Citywide Tree Planting For Sustainable and Magnificent Manila" will be led by employees of the Manila City Hall. Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan said the citywide tree-planting activity aims to prevent flash floods on roads. The activity will start at 8 a.m. and will be joined by some residents. It will take place in several areas in the city, including Arroceros Forest Park, Roxas Boulevard Service Road in front of Plaza Rajah Sulayman, San Nicolas Triangle in front of San Miguel Yamamura, Abad Santos Ave Center Island from Hermosa to Solis Streets, Lacson Avenue Center Island from SM San Lazaro to Dimasalang Road, Plaza Dilao, Quirino Avenue corner Canonigo Street Paco and Ramon Magsaysay Center Island from Santol to V. Mapa Streets and SM Sta. Mesa. The mayor said she will lead the tree-planting operation in Arroceros Forest Park, while Vice Mayor John Marvin "Yul" Servo Nieto will join the team in Roxas Boulervard Service Road in front of Plaza Rajah Sulayman. All participants are encouraged to upload photos and videos of the tree-planting activity along with the hashtag #MNLCityWideTreePlanting to show support to the community.
