BUTUAN CITY – A magnitude-4.3 earthquake jolted Davao Occidental province before dawn on Thursday, June 15.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the earthquake was recorded at 2:08 a.m. and its epicenter was located 201 kilometers southeast of Balut Island in the municipality of Sarangani.
The tremor had a depth of 94 kilometers, Phivolcs said.
No damage or aftershocks are expected from the tectonic earthquake caused by the movement of an active fault in the area.
The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) in Southern Mindanao and Davao Occidental Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) reported no damage or injury.
This earthquake occurred hours before a magnitude-6.3 earthquake rocked Calataga, Batangas on Thursday.
