RICE industry leaders and officials of the Department of Agriculture (DA) from the Visayas are in Iloilo for the three-day cluster workshop for rice technology transfer. (Capitol PIO) The three-day Visayas cluster workshop is part of the Masagana rice program of the Marcos administration. “This is part of the four-point strategy that will guide us on what programs and projects we will implement to increase production and reduce the production cost of rice farmers,” said Undersecretary Leocadio S. Sebastian of the DA Rice Industry Development. Sebastian said the four-point strategies can be replicated by local governments and rice stakeholders in Western Visayas, Central Visayas, and Eastern Visayas. Iloilo Provincial Agriculturist Ildefonso Toledo said that hosting the workshop is part of the provincial government’s support to the DA Province-Led Agriculture and Fisheries Extension Systems (PAFES). The administration of Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr. has allocated P100 million as counterpart for the program.
