Gov. Ramil Hernandez suspended classes on all levels in Laguna after a magnitude-6.3 earthquake struck the neighboring province of Batangas on Thursday, June 15.
HERNANDEZ (FB) Hernandez said the declaration ensures safety of students while school buildings are being checked by engineering personnel. In Batangas, the Department of Education (DepEd)-Calabarzon reported during the emergency meeting with the Office of Civil Defense-Calabarzon that Schools Division Office Batangas, except Santo Tomas City, Lipa City, Batangas City, and two schools in Tanauan City, suspended classes as a result of the mid-morning tremor. Calatagan – the epicenter of the earthquake – and Lemery in Batangas also cancelled classes on all levels following the earthquake.
