Assessment of infrastructure after earthquake ongoing - Pasig LGU


The Pasig City local government is continuously assessing the state and structural integrity of the city's infrastructure after it felt the effects of the 6.3-magnitude earthquake that hit Calatagan, Batangas early Thursday morning, June 15.

The city's Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) recorded an Intensity III earthquake in the city, said Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto on his social media page. 

The city hall and the other buildings within the city hall compound were immediately evacuated following the alert from the DRRMO and the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) at around 10 a.m. 

A rapid assessment of the city hall infrastructure was conducted by the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO).

The city hall and its surrounding areas were cleared for re-entry at around 12 noon. 

The assessment of buildings all over Pasig is ongoing, said the city's Public Information Office (PIO). 

The local government has tapped barangays and schools to urgently inform and report any signs of damage such as visible cracks, door or window misalignment, shattered glass, and water pipe leaks to the authorities. 

Reported cases in those areas will be prioritized by the Rapid Damage and Needs Analysis Team (RDNAT) and other assessment teams from the DRRMO, the Engineering Department, and other affiliated offices. 

According to Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs), the 6.3-magnitude earthquake occurred at around 10:19 a.m. in Calatagn, Batangas. 

Intensity III was reportedly felt in Metro Manila cities such as Pasig, Marikina, Las Pinas, Paranaque, and the municipality of Pateros. 

Meanwhile, the cities of Caloocan, San Juan, and Muntinlupa recorded Intensity II, and Manila, Mandaluyong Quezon City, and Valenzuela reported Intensity IV quakes.
