271 wanted persons arrested in Western Visayas

ILOILO CITY – The Police Regional Office-6 arrested 271 wanted persons – 54 most wanted persons and 217 other wanted persons – in Western Visayas region from June 5 to 11. Police Major Grace Borio, PRO-6 spokesperson, said this was part of “Brigada Semana,” a program that encourages police units to have a target weekly accomplishment In the campaign against illegal drugs, 71 drug suspects were caught in 66 anti-drug operations. An estimated P8.7 million worth of suspected shabu was confiscated. Seventeen persons were arrested in the campaign against illegal firearms. Seized from them were 234 firearms and 15 explosives. In the campaign against illegal gambling, 162 were arrested and more than P30,000 in bet money was confiscated. The hierarchy of PRO-6 lauded the operations. “We are sending a strong message to those people engaging in illegal activities. We will not stop, we will go further in our commitment to fight criminality here in Western Visayas,” said Police Brig. Gen. Sidney Villaflor, acting PRO-6 director.
