BUTUAN CITY – A magnitude-4.2 earthquake jolted Davao Occidental before dawn on Wednesday, June 14.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said the earthquake was recorded at 2:49 a.m. and its epicenter was traced 12 kilometers southeast of Don Marcelino, Davao Occidental, and had a depth of 29 kilometers.
It was recorded at Intensity IV in Don Marcelino and Intensity II in Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental, and Malungon, Sarangani.
No damage or aftershocks are expected from the tectonic earthquake caused by the movement of an active fault in the area.
The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) in Southern Mindanao region and Davao Occidental Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) reported no damage or injury from the tremor.
