CCPO nets 23.45 kilos of shabu worth P159 M from January to May
CEBU CITY – The Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) has seized more illegal drugs in the first five months of the year compared to the same period last year behind an intensified anti-criminality campaign.
Police Col. Ireneo Dalogdog, chief of CCPO, said that from January to May this year, some 23.45 kilograms of shabu worth P159 million have been seized out of the 708 anti-illegal drug operations that were conducted.
In the same period last year, the CCPO conducted 566 anti-drug operations and seized 15.48 kilos of shabu valued at P107.7 million.
Dalogodog said the first five months of the year also saw the arrest of 619 drug suspects while there were only 536 arrests in the same period in 2022.
He said the increased confiscation of shabu and arrest of drug suspects were the result of the Philippine National Police’s intensified anti-criminality campaign dubbed Simultaneous Anti-Criminality and Law Enforcement Operation (SACLEO).
“Before SACLEO was conducted once a month but now, we are doing it twice a month already,” said Dalogdog.
Dalogdog added that through SACLEO, the CCPO conducted 1,020 anti-illegal gambling operations from January to May this year in which 2,044 persons were arrested.
In the same period last year, there were only 86 anti-illegal gambling operations that led to the arrest of 323 persons.
“This is the result of our serious anti-criminality campaign and we will continue to be relentless in our fight against illegal drugs, illegal gambling, and other illegal activities,” Dalogdog said.
