Last May 13, Miss Possibilities Foundation (MPF) recently held its sixth edition of Miss Possibilities 2023. It was held at the Henry Lee Irvin Theater at Ateneo de Manila University in Katipunan, Quezon City. The event marked the return of the pageant after a three-year hiatus.
The Miss Possibilities, or MP, is a pageant organized as a platform for girls with disabilities ages 12 years old and above. It aims to build confidence and promote a positive self-image among participants, regardless of physical disability. The pageant goes beyond external beauty as the standard with the theme "Beauty knows no boundaries."
Twelve candidates vied for the title, coming from as far as Vancouver, Canada, with residents from Pampanga in the north, Cavite in the south, and the rest are from NCR (National Capital Region). Angela Gabrielle “Bea” Santiago, a 21-year-old lady from Canada, was chosen as Miss Possibilities 2023. With her talent and family support, her disability did not get in her way to expand her wings to achieve, and became an advocate of the "Yes, I Can" and an Olympiad to the Special Olympics.
The other 11 candidates were awarded individual titles: Miss Limitless Sugar Tiongson, Miss Fashionista Ashley Despi, Miss Inspirational Gwen Fernandez, Miss Photogenic Angela Fajardo, Miss Congeniality Nicole Flores, Miss Spirited Alex Uy, Miss Creative Angela Angeles, Miss Adorable Jasteen Andaluz, Miss Charming Kyla Tuano, Miss Earth Angel Anya Ferrolino, Miss Humility Krisol Barajas. These qualities make up the character of a Miss Possibilities.
Another pageant highlight is the inclusive Fashion Show, which features other individuals with disabilities walking the ramp alongside well-known celebrities and personalities from the entertainment, media, sport, internet, beauty pageant, fashion, and politics who joined, believed, and supported the advocacy.
According to Ms. Suzanne Yuzon, MPF founder and president, the event received positive feedback and pledges to support the advocacy. Many signified their intention to be counted and be an instrument in any way they can in raising the awareness on the different spectrum of physical disabilities, in order to foster a culture of inclusivity and equality.
