JONES, Isabela -- The Department of AgricultureโBureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Regional Office 2 (DA-BFAR R02) initiated a two-day on-site Skills Training on Fish Smoking to fisher folks for additional income in Barangay Papan here.
The training on fish smoking technology aims to capacitate the participants with knowledge and skills in utilizing their harvest from their ponds for additional income.
The training started with lectures and hands-on activities attended by the members of the Papa Weste Fishfarmers and Fisherfolk Cooperative.

BFAR said that training the fisherfolk is one of the regular programs of the agency to uplift the socio-economic conditions of the local community.
It would also minimize post-harvest losses, particularly if there is surplus in harvest, the BFAR added.
The training was in cooperation with the Provincial Office in Isabela and the local government of Jones, Isabela.
