Ex-senator Biazon to be buried at Libingan ng mga Bayani 


The late senator, congressman and chief of staff of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Rodolfo Biazon will be buried at the Libingan ng mga Bayani in Taguig. 

Biazon passed away on June 12 after a bout with lung cancer and pneumonia. He was 88.

“We thank those who continue to pour their love, support and prayers for our father, Gen. Rodolfo Gaspar Biazon,” Muntinlupa Mayor Ruffy Biazon posted on Facebook. 

Biazon’s wake is from June 13 to 18 at Chapels 2, 3 and 4 of the Heritage Memorial Park in Taguig. Public viewing is from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. with a daily Mass held at 7 p.m. 

According to Mayor Biazon, on June 19, his father’s remains will be brought to the Senate for a necrological service that will be held at 10 a.m. Public viewing will be until 3 p.m.

A final wake will be held on June 19 at the Holy Child Chapel at the Philippine Marines Headquarters in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig with viewing starting at 5 p.m. A Holy Mass will be held at 8 a.m. on June 20. 

“He was diagnosed with lung cancer in July of 2022 and underwent the appropriate treatment. This year,  however, he caught pneumonia twice, the second being more serious than the first which had further weakend his lungs,” Mayor Biazon said in a post on June 12  announcing the death of his dad, who also served as Muntinlupa congressman from 2010 to 2016. 

Muntinlupa City Administrator Allan Cachuela ordered all flags in all government offices including the Muntinlupa City hall, schools and barangays be flown at half-mast. 

The Muntinlupa City Council will pass a resolution on June 13 to honor Biazon. 

Biazon will be laid to rest on June 20 at the Libingan ng mga Bayani. A funeral march will start at 11 a.m.
