Following the Data Privacy Act of 2012 and the guidelines established by the National Privacy Commission (NTC), the purpose of the data-sharing agreement is to facilitate the exchange of data between DICT and GSIS for the development of application programs that will improve the delivery of services while ensuring the free flow of information to promote innovation and growth. This agreement aims to hold both organizations accountable and have an obligation to safeguard the data of GSIS stakeholders. GSIS President and General Manager Wick Veloso explained that the agreement aims to speed up transactions, decrease paperwork, and improve the GSIS member service. He also noted that collaboration between DICT and GSIS is a significant step towards achieving the digitization innovation process. DICT also acknowledged GSIS as the pioneering agency that embraced e-governance with its GSIS Touch and GSIS Guide to Transactions and Processes (GTAP).
