In its Mayon Volcano situation report as of June 12, DepEd said that classes in six cities/municipalities have been suspended. These include classes in Camalig, Daraga, Guinobatan, Malilipot, Ligao City, and Tabaco City. DepEd data also showed that two schools are located within the 6-kilometer danger zone. These schools are located in Albay (1) and Tobacco City (1). Meanwhile, DepEd noted that there are 45 schools located within the seven to eight (7-8) kilometer danger zone. Of this number, 26 are in Albay; eight are in Tabaco City; six are in Ligao City, and five are in Legazpi City. To date, DepEd said 14 schools are being used by Evacuation Centers (ECs) for affected families. As stated in the school calendar, the School Year (SY) 2022-2023 will end on July 7. Based on its existing policy, schools in areas where classes are not conducive to learning may shift to the implementation of Alternative Delivery Modes (ADMs). DepEd has yet to comment on the latest directive to schools regarding the shift to ADMs.Â
