Present during the MoA signing were CHED Chairman J. Prospero De Vera III, CHED Executive Director Atty. Cinderella Benitez-Jaro, NU Chairman of the Board Hans T. Sy, and NU President Renato C. Ermita, Jr.

The MOA signifies the commitment and partnership of CHED and NU Sports Academy to work hand in hand for the Tertiary Coaching Education and Development: A Ladderized Sports Skills and Training Program.

De Vera explained that CHED chose NU due to its educational history, type of training, and excellent sports facilities.

"They also surveyed the coaches, so they got a good profile of who the coaches are right now, what their educational background, the kind of training that they got," De Vera added.

De Vera noted that the Philippines has over 2,000 public and private universities --- all of which have coaches for the various sports in which they compete.

The program's primary focus is on the existing coaches who are interested in improving their knowledge and skills.

De Vera clarified that now that the NU has started the program, all other university coaches are welcome to join the training. (Rhowen Del Rosario)
